Paperweight Collectors Association - Venezuela
home

The Paperweight Collectors Association - Venezuela was formed with the primary objective of establishing a modern paperweight collection for the enjoyment of its members and to foster the divulgation of this art form in Venezuela. A three member Board directs it.

Based on its conviction that the true successors to the nineteenth century French glass artists are the twentieth and twenty first centuries American glass artists, the Board only authorizes purchases of works from such artists. Americana, portrait and fauna motifs are preferred over millefiori and flora motifs.

The collection is limited to thirty-two paperweights. Within this constraint it is not static. The existing weights are constantly reviewed and are often sold or exchanged when superior weights are found to replace them.

Special thanks to Nancy Alfano, owner of Portia Paperweights in Chicago, for her guidance on new acquisitions, for her patience and help in the disposition of no longer desired pieces and to Fred Ashley for his creativity in recommending and devising unusual, out of the ordinary motifs.

The Association is happy to show the collection through its web site and hopes you enjoy it as much as its members do. Comments are welcome.
